Sarakki Lake

This is a big area of lake, well protected by fence and is also having some water. But we just can’t make out as its full of very tall lush green grass… looks like a paddy field. So wasn’t a feeling like seeing a lake. This year its not good for lakes - absolutely no water in any lake. Better the Govt should take this as an opportunity and clean many lakes. This time the effort required will be less. Next year in case it rains heavily things will be fine. Also somehow we should make sure that all the water drained in rainy season should reach these lakes (but not the sewerage).

Madiwala Lake

After a long time, I went to some big lakes of Blore and Madiwala lake (in BTM) is certainly one of them. We can see that the Govt has taken some interest in restoring the lake. There is a good amount of water here and some places those marshes. I think they avoid the evaporation, but if we cover the lake with that only then we lose the beauty as well. I have to read and understand a bit about it.

I had been to this lake a year back for tree plantation. Those trees are grown a bit, but will certainly take a few years to see them as fully grown trees. Here there is a separate parking area and also the entry to the lake is through the adjacent garden. There is entry fee (Rs. 5) and parking fee (Rs 10 for bike) in this lake, though nominal only.
I went to the boating  (Rs 100) for half an hour. It was a very nice afternoon, a bit cloudy, cold – so in all did not feel the heat. Saw a couple of very big birds – some ducks, egrets/herons and a few unknown ones ;-)

Gaudanakere

While going from Kumarswamy layout to Padmanbha nagara, here comes one lake in Gaudanapalya. Absolutely difficult to locate and once you reach there its full of marshes and not like a lake with boundaries and also there is no water here as well.

(Size: 22 acres - 'Kere karaguva Samaya' - R. Manjunath - but this has been totally encroached)

Idly kere

Just saw on net that it’s a kere - so wrote it down. But actually its like a small pond in JSS (Similar to many pushkarni’s nearby temples). So not worth mentioning.

Mailasandra Kere

Near to the BGS hospital on Uttarhalli/Mysore rd, there is this wonderful big, dry lake. The area is quite impressive. First of all this being very dry season there is no rain. Don’t know when this lake was ever having water.  The other side of the road, I think the second part of this dry lake is present. Don't know whether its a private property or a lake. But that is also a big area and looks like a lake or a cricket ground ;-) Today only I saw a documentary about Sir MV - engineers day. Don't know what kinda engineer I am, when I can't think of any solutions to this lake problem? But very near to this lake is a heavy flow of Bangalore drainage – flows like a small river. Don’t know whether any water purification plant can be put nearby and this lake be rejuvenated? Just a thought.
